Responsible to: Operations Manager / Director of Operations Working hours: 40 hours per week Essential Qualifications: Health and Social Care Level 4 Desirable Qualifications: • NVQ 4 – Health & Social Care • NVQ 4 – Leadership & Management • Diploma 5 – Health and Social Care • RMA • Nursing Qualification Essential Experience: • 2 years Registered Manager experience and currently working as Registered Manager of a Learning Disability Care Home (Registered for 10 or more beds either at one service or across multi-sites). Current Home needs to be CQC rated Good or above. • 4 years recent and significant experience of working with adults with Learning disabilities and complex needs and has good experience of working with behaviours that challenge as well as health-related conditions. • Experience in managing LD residential or supporting living services. • Good relationship with commissioners, staff, and family members. • Experience of managing staff and conflict resolution. • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment. Job Summary: To take the responsibility as Registered Manager for a single/group of services under the direction of the Operations Manager. To ensure all aspects of the services meet with the Health & Social Care Act 2008 & The Care Act 2014 and the requirements of CQC, together with all other relative legislative requirements. To provide a needs-led service to adults with a learning disability by adopting a person-centred approach that fosters self-awareness, personal growth, and gives each person the strongest voice with regards to decision-making and lifestyle choices. Key Tasks: Leadership and Management • Lead by example and develop effective teams within the services you are responsible for. • Develop a positive working environment which nurtures and rewards good practice through a program of training and development. • Provide regular supervision to Team Leaders / Deputy Managers & other staff you are responsible for. • Ensure good quality working relationships are built and maintained between staff and the service users they are supporting. • Ensure a range of meetings take place to include weekly service user / Team Leader/ Deputy Managers meetings and regular staff meetings. • Identify recruitment requirements for your services and work with the HR Team. • Be proactive in managing recruitment requirements across all services under your responsibility. • Provide support and guidance to the staff team. • Ensure staff attend all mandatory and refresher training. • Ensure that all disciplinary and grievance procedures are carried out in line with company policy and statutory requirements. • Manage change effectively. • Take part in the on-call system. • Ensure staff adhere to the GCSS Codes of Practice and policies and procedures. Quality Management • Ensure the service is run in line with statutory and company policies and procedures. • Ensure processes are in place and adhered to in line with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission. • Develop a culture which enables staff members to maximise their development. • Undertake monthly Quality Assessment Audits to ensure a continuously improving service is provided. Financial • Manage delegated budgets to ensure resources are used to best effect, in line with company policy. • Report financial discrepancies to the Area Manager. • Ensure staff work and comply with financial systems in line with company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Health & Safety • Ensure the service meets H&S Regulations and Guidance. • Complete RIDDOR and SetSaf reports as required. • Ensure staff team completes H&S training as required. • Evaluate the risks to protect Service Users from threats to their health and welfare. • Complete risk assessments for staff, the service, and individuals living there. Partnership Working • Maximise effective partnerships with mainstream and specialist services. • Maintain close contact with families/carers as appropriate, with the consent of the individuals being supported at the service. • Utilise support services as required, such as Advocacy. • Implement/monitor and contribute to joint initiatives as required. • Create and develop links between the service and the local community.
