Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team working with adults who have a learning disability and live in the community in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will have opportunities to develop skills in positive behaviour support, learning disability assessments and assessing and understanding mental health needs within this specialist team.
Main duties of the job
The posts are working across our mental health and positive behavioural support pathways.
The post holder will work with an experienced and highly motivated clinical team, offering supervised assessments and clinical interventions within a Positive Behavioural Support model. You will receive regular supervision with a qualified psychologist within the service. There will be opportunities to contribute to service evaluation and service developments and opportunities to work with colleagues in other pathways to meet the needs of the clients we support. This post will be based at Benton House, Newcastle.
We are recruiting for 2 part-time posts working 4 days a week and 3 days a week.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Upper 2nd class honours degree, or higher, in psychology.
* Eligibility for graduate membership of British Psychological Society.
Knowledge and Experience Essential
* Experience in older adults or learning disabilities.
* Paid or unpaid work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities.
* Knowledge of evidence based practice.
Skills and Competencies Essential
* High level of communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate and work in highly emotive circumstances.
* Ability to communicate sensitive information to clients, carers and colleagues.
* An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems and other disabilities.
* Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health / cognitive impairment / disability context.
