Working pattern: 5 days per week
Job Summary: Led by investors responsible for assets under management of over US$90 trillion, ICGN undertakes leading policy research, as well as advocacy activities, to inspire effective corporate governance and investor stewardship practices worldwide. Our policy work is produced by our Policy Team, together with our member-led committees. The Junior Policy Analyst will be responsible for monitoring legislative developments on corporate governance worldwide, conducting policy research, and assisting the team with administrative tasks. This position requires a highly organised and detail-oriented individual, interested in public policy, corporate governance and sustainable business practices.
Policy research responsibilities:
* Monitor legislative and regulatory developments on corporate governance matters worldwide, by reading announcements from international organisations, national corporate governance codes, regulatory authorities and legislators.
* Help the Policy Executive prepare our bi-weekly policy newsletter, which summarises key regulatory developments for ICGN members.
* Conduct background research to help senior members of the policy team write responses to public consultations and engage with policy-makers.
* Track impact of our policy work by comparing final legislation or standard with our responses to public consultations.
* Summarise panel discussions at ICGN events and webinars to inform ICGN members.
* Prepare Powerpoint slides in preparation of policy committee meetings.
Administrative responsibilities:
* Maintain and regularly review ICGN’s Policy Webpage.
* Monitor the ICGN policy inbox and respond to member requests, liaising with the Policy Team.
* Update internal tracking documents (such as tracking our members’ interest for our policy working groups)
* Schedule meetings, coordinate agendas, help organise days of engagement with policy-makers, and perform other tasks that help support the policy team’s work.
* Proof-read draft publications.
Skills, knowledge, and experience:
* University Degree preferably in Communications, Political Sciences or Corporate Law, Business and Finance, or a related topic, with strong academic records.
* 0-1 year work experience. Having done an internship either in policy (e.g. parliamentary assistant, international organisation, trade association) or in stewardship (e.g. proxy service provider or investment firm) would be an asset.
* Excellent writing skills, with high level of proficiency in English. Good PowerPoint skills would be helpful.
* Knowledge of Japanese would be an asset (but is not required)
* Great attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
