We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Exeter. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a real difference in a student's educational experience by providing tailored support in a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual student who has an EHCP to provide the support they need to succeed academically and socially. Your role will include:
* Individualised Support: Delivering 1:1 support to a student to help them engage with the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
* Collaboration with Teachers: Working closely with the class teacher to implement personalised learning strategies and ensure the student’s needs are met.
* Encouraging Independence: Promoting the student’s independence by helping them complete tasks and develop self-reliance.
* Tracking Progress: Monitoring the student’s progress and providing feedback to the teacher for further assessment.
* Behaviour Management: Assisting the student with managing behaviour, promoting positive actions and strategies for success.
* Building Positive Relationships: Creating a supportive and trusting relationship with the student, providing emotional support to help them thrive.
Skills and Experience Required
We are looking for an individual with a caring and proactive approach, who is motivated to support students in their learning. The following qualifications and skills are required:
* Relevant Experience: Experience working with children is essential. Working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
* Knowledge of Special educational needs: An understanding of special educational needs and the ability to create strategies to work with learners with such needs.
* Effective Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with students, teachers, and parents.
* Patience and Empathy: A patient, empathetic approach to working with children, especially those who need extra support.
* Classroom Management Skills: The ability to support positive behaviour in the classroom and foster a productive learning environment.
* Commitment to Education: A passion for helping students succeed and a willingness to adapt learning methods to the needs of the individual.
* Qualifications: A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certification is preferred, though not essential if you have relevant experience.
