The purpose of the role is to ensure all construction and installation is completed and inspected in line with Project Quality Plan and to provide documentation to demonstrate conformity with the relevant specifications.
Here at Off-Site Solutions, we have sourced and manufactured products for some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the UK. Having worked in the nuclear sector for over a decade, we take great pride in our approach to nuclear safety.
Off-Site Solutions has been a vital part of Balfour Beatty for more than 15 years and has just recently relocated to Birkenhead to a brand-new bespoke facility that provides a great working environment. You’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you.
What you'll be doing
* Ensuring the efficient implementation of all systems in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS), including document control, risk management, Control of Records and QA/QC procedures.
* Carrying out surveillances and inspections in accordance with the Project expectations and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s).
* Preparing and maintaining Handover Dossiers and Final Certification Packages as required.
* Storing all inspection equipment and ensuring Calibration System is in full compliance of company and client requirements.
* Maintaining Welder Qualification Certificates and issuing Weld Procedures to the Welders.
* Providing technical support for welding activities as required.
* Liaising with and controlling NDT Subcontractors, including monitoring all safety aspects and reviewing performance.
* Reviewing and reporting the weekly welding performance to the Project Manager.
* Collating details of daily welding progress.
* Liaising with the subcontractors and Client’s representation.
* Completing any other duties as required in relations to skills, activities, status etc as required by the Superintendent.
* Assist and implement any other requirements or duties as requested by line management.
* Become familiar and adhere to BB policy/procedure and the workflows and contract details, procedures/processes that are required for safe and timely execution. This includes proficiency in platforms such as BIM360, SharePoint and Ffenics.
* Implementation of Short Interval Control including running of daily section review meeting and production of a weekly section report via BIM 360 · Live the Balfour Beatty Values · Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm · Support the delivery of Balfour Beatty’s Sustainability activities · Complete safety observation card; target 1 per week, recorded on BB APP.
Who we're looking for
* Has and maintains a CSWIP welding inspector certificate amongst other NDT qualifications
* Ability to build strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers
* Substantial practical experience in quality management in a relevant business environment
* Experience of building a quality management framework & KPI measurement
* Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts
* Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion
* Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner
* Has good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others including senior management
* Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function
* Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work
* Able to command respect across the business and work closely with the Business Efficiency
