SENDirect is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a special educational needs school in Colchester. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them stay engaged in their learning during teacher absences. As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure that lesson plans are followed, maintain a positive classroom environment, and provide support to students aged 10-16.
While previous experience working with SEMH students is preferred, the key qualities we seek are confidence, resilience, and a desire to make a difference. Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise students in the absence of the regular class teacher, ensuring they remain engaged in their learning.
* Follow lesson plans and help students stay on track with their work.
* Promote a positive and focused learning environment for students aged 10-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
* Encourage participation in both classroom and outdoor learning activities.
* Support students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being through positive interactions.
* Manage classroom behaviour in a calm and supportive manner.
* Work flexibly across different subjects and adapt to the varying needs of students.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is preferred.
* Confidence and enthusiasm for working with students in a classroom setting.
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
* A passion for outdoor activities and a willingness to engage in the school’s outdoor learning programs.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage students and collaborate with staff.
* Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subjects and support various needs.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
