We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to support the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates, individuals with recruitment experience, or candidates with transferable administrative skills looking to kickstart a career in HR.\n\nAbout the Role:\n\nMain Day-to-Day Duties:\n\nUpdating internal databases and HR systems with employee information.\n\nManaging and maintaining records with accuracy and confidentiality.\n\nUsing CRM systems to track employee and process data.\n\nAssisting with the on-boarding process and general HR administration.\n\nFollowing established processes and procedures with close attention to detail.\n\nSupporting the wider HR team with ad hoc administrative tasks.\n\nAbout You:\n\nStrong organisational skills and attention to detail.\n\nAble to follow processes and work methodically.\n\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\n\nComfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.\n\nWillingness to learn and develop within an HR setting.\n\nPrevious experience in recruitment or administration is desirable but not essential.\n\nBenefits:\n\nCareer development: Gain valuable HR experience in a supportive and structured public sector environment.\n\nCollaborative culture: Work alongside experienced HR professionals and develop key transferable skills.\n\nLocation: MCA, Spring Place, SO15 1EG, Southampton.
The role is fully on-site to begin with, transitioning to hybrid (60% on-site, 40% from home) after training.\n\nWork schedule: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (09:00-17:00).\n\nHourly rate: £12.36 p/h.\n\nContract length: 6-month temporary contract with potential for internal opportunities at MCA.\n\nThe successful candidate will be subject to a 3-year activity check and a basic DBS.\n\nReady to grow your HR career?
