Overview
The Stage Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of performances and events. This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about the performing arts and possesses strong communication skills. The Stage Assistant will work closely with performers, stage managers, and technical staff to ensure that all aspects of the production run seamlessly.
Duties
1. Assist in setting up and dismantling stage equipment and props before and after performances.
2. Support performers by providing guidance and assistance during rehearsals and live shows.
3. Maintain clear communication with the stage manager regarding cues, changes, and any issues that arise during performances.
4. Educate performers on stage etiquette and safety protocols to ensure a professional environment.
5. Help coordinate backstage activities to ensure that all elements of the production are executed on time.
6. Participate in rehearsals to understand the flow of the performance and assist with any necessary adjustments.
7. Engage in public speaking as required, providing information or instructions to performers or crew members.
Skills
1. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with team members and performers.
2. Ability to educate others on stage practices and safety measures, fostering a supportive environment for all involved.
3. Experience or interest in dance is advantageous, as it enhances understanding of performance dynamics.
4. Public speaking skills are beneficial for conveying instructions clearly during rehearsals or performances.
5. A proactive attitude with excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
