The Industrial Design team is seeking a talented and passionate Industrial Designer in China to support our Industrial Design and Development team. This designer will be directly responsible for applying our design standards related to cosmetic standards, color, material and finish on our products, from concept approval to implementation. This includes understanding process and technology, and the use of master standards for a wide selection of materials and processes, as well as close cooperation with the designers, development teams, and vendors during the implementation phases. This designer will work collaboratively within a team of designers, CMF team, manufacturing process engineers, and program managers to develop world-class consumer electronics solutions.
Key job responsibilities:
1. Brainstorm concept designs as needed.
2. Work with US design team to set up design intent and criteria, create ID documents.
3. Work with engineering team on design execution.
4. Collaborate with suppliers and CM plants to conduct part-level and assembly-level reviews, prepare ID review reports, and follow up on findings until resolved.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, great English communication skills: verbal and written.
• 10+ years related experience in the field of consumer electronics design and manufacture, familiar with the whole development process from front design to production.
• Understanding of finishing processes and manufacturing in the field of consumer electronics.
• Experience in developing and using master standards for cosmetics, colors, materials, and finishes.
• Demonstrated experience developing and using quality assurance standards, setting up cosmetic specifications and limits for defects that impact product quality or user experience.
• Provide leadership with development teams and supply chain driving design intent and premium product quality requirements.
• Teamwork and willingness to travel for both domestic and international assignments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent understanding of fundamental design disciplines and principles.
• Great ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment.
• Rich experience in consumer electronics and varied manufacturing processes.
• Huge desire for cutting-edge technology, advanced processes, materials, and finishes.
• Proven teamwork ability across design, engineering, and suppliers.
• Demonstrated drive and confidence, comprehensive thinking, and ability to make decisions independently.
