About Us
South London Careers Hub Strategic Lead
You will be a strong and inspirational leader, with the skills to drive a team and strengthen careers education across south London. You will strive to strengthen collaboration between industry and schools, colleges, special schools, alternative provision and pupil referral units to ensure that our most under-resourced students get access to high-quality careers education.
You will work with educators, business leaders and key partners to ensure that careers education aligns with local skills priorities and ensure students have the knowledge to make informed choices about their best next step, creating clear pathways into local jobs. The post is currently fixed term to 31st August 2025, but this is likely to be extended until 31st August 2026, subject to contract.
About the Role
Key criteria for the role include:
* An understanding of school culture and the challenges faced by schools in delivering careers and enterprise education
* An understanding of relevant local and national policy relating to skills and economic development and the issues and barriers to employment faced by young people
* An understanding of national quality careers education standards
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Experience of leading and managing a multi-discipline field-based team that works with multiple stakeholders
* Strong leadership skills, able to set, communicate and inspire stakeholders to achieve a clear vision
* Experience of managing performance, objective setting aligned to organisation goals and proactively addressing underperformance and coaching for improvement, and managing budgets
* Engaging with and influencing senior, cross-sector stakeholders to drive collaboration and affect change
* Highly effective at strategic planning/business planning and managing performance against the outcomes within a plan
