Long- Term teachers have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and qualified teacher to join the schools pastoral and safeguarding team. You will be working in a vibrant provision situated near the Forest of Dean. The school supports just under 150 pupils ages 2 to 19, with PMLD, SLD and MALD, all with an EHCP.
We are looking for a teacher who can be responsible for the education and welfare of all pupils in their care. You will also be expected to act as Line Manager to your class team, to include performance management, of identified staff. You must also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, an enhanced adult and child DBS will be require.
Commencing in September 2024, you will be working full time, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30am - 4pm, term time only.
Main duties:
* To create a child centred purposeful learning environment to stimulate, motivate and fulfil pupil potential in a safe learning environment
* To work with children of all ages with a wide range of additional complex needs, including medical needs.
* To teach the National Curriculum as agreed with SLT and participate in short, medium and long term planning, preparing materials and attending meetings on such matters as required.
* To co-ordinate and personalise the National Curriculum for pupils in their designated class and assist with the development and implementation across the school.
* Establish a rapport with pupils to develop their social, emotional, physical and intellectual potential and to be a main source of reference for any issues arising relating to their wellbeing and development
* Management of pupil behaviour and support pupils during learning activities, acting as a role model
* The maintenance of discipline and acceptable standards of professional conduct in the class team
* Promoting teamwork, sharing good practice and supporting colleagues.
* To participate as required in meetings such as EHCP & PEP meetings with colleagues, other professionals and parents in respect of the duties and responsibilities of the post.
* To plan and prepare lessons effectively to ensure they meet the needs of the children within the class
About you:
* Must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* At least 2 years teaching experience within either mainstream or specialist environments
* Excellent understanding of UK curriculum
* Strong knowledge of special education and how to support individual needs
* Ability to plan and mark fun, engaging lessons that are accessible for students individual needs
