The Assistant Pastor is a training position at Rock Baptist Church, Cambridge. We expect the successful candidate to work under the supervision of our pastor, Mike Partridge, and to be seeking a pastoral position in an FIEC or other evangelical church after a 2-3 year period working at Rock Baptist Church.
The Assistant Pastor will:
* meet the qualifications of character, knowledge and gifting set out for leaders in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
* be wholeheartedly in agreement with the church’s statement of faith and constitution
* be wholeheartedly in agreement with the FIEC’s position papers on church unity, women’s ministry and same-sex marriage
* work and be trained under the direction of our Pastor, Mike Partridge
* be part of an eldership team who govern the church
* work with the elders and deacons to manage the affairs of the church
* report annually to the Staff Management Group on behalf of the Trustees
We expect the Assistant Pastor, under the direction of the Pastor, to:
* preach and lead in turn in our Sunday morning and evening services
* attend and/or lead a mid-week homegroup
* support and strengthen the leadership of ‘Little Rockers’ (our outreach to parents and toddlers mid-week)
* be involved in the strategic leadership and development of the church in all areas (both in discipleship and evangelism), delegating responsibility where appropriate, and assisting others in taking initiative
* share in the pastoral work with the Pastor including visiting church members, regular attenders and new visitors
* help maintain and build fraternal relations with other gospel-centred churches in Cambridge and, through the FIEC, around the UK
