Job Title: Credit Manager
Location: Glasgow
FPSG are delighted to be working with a growing start up within the Financial Services sector; to facilitate, they are recruiting for a permanent Credit Manager.
Role Overview
To support Bank’s credit underwriting team to provide excellent customer service and to promote a customer service excellence ethos throughout the Bank.
Support the Head of Credit in developing, implementing and monitoring the credit risk strategy, and credit risk appetite to build a sustainable portfolio successfully through an in-depth knowledge of the economic environment, industry sectors, regulatory and legislative issues and environmental, social and governance (ESG). Possess strong and proactive stakeholder engagement and management skills alongside high level communication and presentation skills.
Critically interpret and analyse the portfolio performance to guide risk management decisions, strategic direction, and lending practices. Pro-actively monitoring historic, current and future trends to ensure individual deals and the portfolio remain within Risk Appetite tolerance.
Systematically monitor external economic data and industry trends, to provide insight, awareness and thought leadership across external macroeconomic factors and industry sectors which may impact the lending portfolio and the Bank’s credit risk appetite across the economic cycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain Delegated Lending Authorities, Overviews and Service Level Agreement adherence.
* Develop and maintain a framework that measures, reports and escalates Credit Risk Appetite measures on a monthly basis, highlighting issues and providing rationale and commentary for current position and future expected direction and trends.
* Proactive portfolio monitoring and reporting to deliver analysis and insight, identifying trends, and evaluating credit risk.
* Implementing a robust monitoring system to track changes and identify potential deteriorations or concentrations of the business lending portfolio.
* Continuously assess and report external trends and horizon risks identified across the macroeconomic environment, industry sectors or legislative and regulatory developments to provide insight and understanding of risks and issues which may impact the credit risk environment for business lending.
* Keep up to date with evolving regulatory and legislative issues that pertain to credit risk management, ensuring that Lending remains compliant with the ever-changing regulatory landscape, allowing for proactive adjustments to credit risk strategies, enabling Alba to effectively navigate potential challenges and capitalise on opportunities.
* Strong Stakeholder relationships with Commercial Team (Business Development Directors and Relationship Managers).
Key Requirements
* Previous Credit experience within a Financial Services or regulated environment.
* Excellent industry sector / business / market / economic / regulatory understanding at both a macro and micro level and using this knowledge to contribute pro-actively.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills (including presentation skills) between key stakeholders, internally and externally, demonstrating a positive ‘can do’ attitude to drive personal and team success.
* Change & Resilience you will thrive on working in constant change and demonstrates significant resilience under pressure.
* Commercial acumen, you will be involved in strategic decision-making within the business as an influencer.
