The Opportunity
As our client continues to deliver exciting and significant projects across their global teams, their goal is to allow their engineers to focus on what they do best - delivering exceptional design solutions for our clients. Due to this, they're currently seeking a technically strong Principal Mechanical Engineer who also thrives on line-managing staff and assisting with team coordination. This position would be based in Glasgow, with a flexible mixture of home-working and office/site collaboration time expected.
Within their Net Zero Engineering Business, the multidisciplinary mechanical team has a focus on diversifying the energy mix in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. This includes power generation (from gas, biomass, hydro, and nuclear), natural gas cavern storage, hydrogen (production & cavern storage), and industrial decarbonisation.
This role is located in Glasgow (Edinburgh, Stockton on Tees, or Bristol will also be considered).
Your Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervising, developing, and mentoring others.
2. Leading technical aspects of mechanical engineering projects. This may be over a range of design phases, from optioneering through to detailed design.
3. Coordinating team activities such as resourcing and group meetings (working alongside the group lead).
You Will Have the Following Qualifications & Experience
1. Master's degree (MEng/MSc) qualified Mechanical Engineer.
2. Chartered Engineer and a member of IMechE is desirable.
3. Strong technical background.
It's Great If You Also Have the Following
1. Pipe stress analysis.
2. Equipment specification and engineering specification writing.
3. Pressure part design calculations.
4. Plant layout design.
5. Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., power, chemical, oil & gas) is desirable.
6. Checking and providing assurance of deliverables.
