Title: Senior Training Specialist

Duty Station: Olympia, Washington – Thurston County
Hybrid/Telework: While this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, the successful candidate must be available to report to the Olympia, WA headquarters as needed.
Join the agency’s training team to enhance the knowledge, skills, and leadership of employees, volunteers, and student interns by delivering professional training in soft skills, safety, and technical areas.
This role focuses on developing and implementing high-quality, compliant training programs that promote an efficient and safe workforce while reducing risk and liability.
Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality in-person and online training in various designated subjects to agency employees, including human resources management, leadership, communications, conflict resolution, situation awareness, diversity, safety, and team building.
* Maintain agency designated instructor certifications to organize and provide training and/or consultation.
* Research, identify, and incorporate best practice training for identified subjects.
* Deploy, collect, evaluate, and integrate relevant feedback from course evaluations for continuous improvement of class effectiveness.
* Provide individualized and group training consultation to identify training needs and formulate training plans.
Manage training logistics and operations:
* Develop formal written training plans and manage training operations upon approval.
* Compile reports for Supervisors and Executive Leadership to define and measure training activities, deliverables, compliance, and outcomes.
* Schedule agency trainings and confirm logistics.
* Maintain student roster and manage procurement of training materials.
Develop curriculum and training materials:
* Revise and edit training curriculum for in-person and online classes.
* Use authorized platforms to develop and deploy online courses.
* Maintain employee training communications.
Working Conditions:
The position is primarily indoors in an office environment with potential hazards including long periods of data entry and carrying training materials (approximately 25 lbs.).
Schedule: Typically Monday – Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Adjustments may occur to meet business needs.
Travel Requirements: Statewide and overnight travel is required to deliver training and conduct agency business.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in instructional design, organizational development, education, psychology, human resources, public administration, or closely related field, and:
* Four (4) years of experience as an instructor providing training to adults.
* Two (2) years as a human resource consultant or related experience.
Or:
1. A Master’s Degree in a related field, and:
* Two (2) years of experience as an instructor providing training to adults.
* Two (2) years as a human resource consultant or related experience.
Or:
1. Four (4) years of combined education and/or professional experience in training, and:
* Four (4) years of experience as an instructor providing training to adults.
* Two (2) years as a human resource consultant or related experience.
In addition:
* Expert knowledge of adult learning principles.
* Proficient in communication and conflict management.
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Advanced skills with online platforms like Articulate Storyline.
* Advanced curriculum design experience.
