Join Our Team as a Yard Assistant at Norwich Crown Point
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Yard Assistant to join our team at Crown Point. The primary purpose of this role is to control and authorize movements within the yard, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations. The successful candidate will undertake shunting activities and a variety of multi-tasking responsibilities to support the overall functioning of the depot and sidings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Movement Control: Authorize and oversee the movement of trains and vehicles within the yard, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational procedures, including fuelling and CET duties.
* Shunting Operations: Perform shunting duties as required, including the positioning and rearranging of rolling stock to facilitate operational efficiency.
* Yard Activities: Undertake forklift duties, as and where required, on a voluntary basis within job remit. Ensure that consumables such as sand and screen wash are replaced on every shift.
* Multi-Tasking: Engage in various tasks as required by the depot, which may include assisting with maintenance, inventory management, and record-keeping.
* Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to promote a safe working environment for all staff and visitors.
* Communication: Maintain effective communication with team members and other departments to ensure seamless operations and address any issues that may arise.
* Reporting: Keep accurate records of movements, incidents, and operational activities, reporting any discrepancies or concerns to the supervisor as well as ensuring winterisation procedures are carried out in applicable weather.
