Interim SHE Manager - Liverpool
Rate: ~ £400 per day (DOE) (Outside IR35)
Full-Time, on-site (5 Days Per Week)
6 Month Duration (potential for extension)
Are you an experienced SHE Manager looking for your next interim opportunity? A leading chemical manufacturer in Widnes is seeking an Interim SHE Manager to provide critical support for a period of 3-6 months while they recruit for a permanent replacement.
In this role, you'll be responsible for strengthening safety culture, management systems (ISO 45001 & 14001), risk assessments, and contractor management. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong engagement with teams across the site, including the shop floor, environmental contractors, and the wider SHE team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead SHE operations on-site, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and company policies.
* Identify and address weaknesses in existing management systems, risk assessments, and permits.
* Engage proactively with teams across all levels, reinforcing a strong safety culture.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives around safe systems of work (SSoW) and contractor management.
* Provide leadership on waste management and environmental considerations, working alongside the environmental team.
* Work closely with the Site Director and wider management team to drive realignment and improvements in SHE performance.
Ideal Candidate:
* Proven experience as a SHE / EHS Manager within batch manufacturing, chemicals, consumer care, or industrial processes.
* Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 & 14001, SSoW, and contractor management.
* Ability to engage at all levels, from shop floor to senior leadership.
* Practical experience in occupational safety and environmental compliance (not process safety focused).
* Experience in safety control of work, permits, and risk assessment is highly desirable.
