Early Birds Nursery is a Local Authority setting for children aged 6 months - 4 years old based on Birdwell Primary School site in Long Ashton. Early Birds has a Good Ofsted judgement and our dedicated team continually strive to seek innovative ways to further improve and develop practice. We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our aspirational team.
The Role
We are seeking two inspirational, professional Early Years Nursery Workers to join our Early Birds Nursery who will understand and value the importance of providing outstanding learning and care in a fun, safe environment, giving all children a positive and successful start in life. You will need to be a strong team player who can also demonstrate initiative, nurture, and joy. You will be friendly, passionate, reflective, and committed to delivering an outstanding child-centred approach to Early Years in keeping with our Early Birds ethos.
We have two positions available, one for 37 hours per week and one for 32.5 hours per week. Both positions are fixed term for 12 months.
In this role, you will, amongst other tasks:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the planning of the curriculum and delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage; providing safe, creative and inclusive opportunities for children to learn and progress; organising equipment, setting up and facilitating activities.
2. Under the guidance of the Room Lead to act as a Keyworker to a group of children (Approx 12 children based on 1fte), liaising closely with parents/carers to ensure needs are met and progress is made.
3. Take a lead on area of the nursery provision for example health and safety or an area of learning and development across the nursery - supporting provision, experiences and knowledge.
4. Be responsible for making observations of children's learning and development and determining the most appropriate next steps.
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
About You
We are looking for an individual who possesses the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria:
1. Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years and Care
2. English and Maths GSCE Grade C or above (or equivalent)
3. Experience of working in an Early Years environment and providing outstanding care and provision
4. Good communication skills, both written and verbal
5. The ability to build relationships and work in partnership with children and families
6. Knowledge and understanding of both child protection/safeguarding and working inclusively with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
