AtkinsRéalis are proud to be working at the heart of the challenges in the energy industry and within our Power team we are continually developing and growing within this area. Our team is currently delivering work across the Transmission and Distribution sectors across the UK as well as supporting other Energy and infrastructure business sectors. We are in a position where we need to grow our team to enhance our capability and strengthen our service offering. As such, we are recruiting a Principal P&C Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team.
What you'll be doing?

You will be working in our Electrical Engineering team based in Birmingham, Glasgow, Epsom or Leeds. Building strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You'll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices. You'll be client-focused - being able to interface with clients, understand their needs and convert opportunities into successful workstreams.
You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:
* Carrying out the FEED and detail design works including the protection and control aspects of different projects including SLD, KLD, schematics, wiring diagrams, functional specifications, setting reports, coordination and discrimination studies, telecom, network architecture, SCS, cable sizing and voltage drop, LVAC and LVDC load calculations and sizing, and technical specification for P&C equipment, battery and UPS systems.
* Carry out CDAE for P&C discipline or LCDAE role for National Grid / EPC contractors' projects as required.
* Carry out P&C Design Assurance activities as required.
* Coordination with back office engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
* Proven record of ability to manage tender packages preparing P&C aspects of technical offers.
* Ability to attend and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing P&C design packages as required.
* Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
* Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes.
* Customer focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills.
* Communication with commissioning engineers during final installation/commissioning stages of projects, to resolve technical issues. This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
Minimum Requirements
* HND or Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
* Chartered Engineer through the IET or in a path to get it.
* Proven extensive experience in P&C design of substations in the UK (NG and/or SSE).
* An understanding of the engineering project and asset lifecycles.
* Good knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
* Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintain existing and develop new client relationships.
* Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers.
* Flexibility to travel to client sites when required.
* Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
* Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

* HVDC design experience.
* Commissioning Experience.
