MIAG (Meeting Individuals Aspirations & Goals) is a leading provider of Alternative Education in the South-West of England. Alternative Education is a part of the Government's SEND & AP Improvement Plan and we are seeing a growing demand in the area. We have an ambitious business plan that seeks to gain DFE Registration over the next 18 months to become a registered provider of Alternative Provision which will enable the company to deliver a full time education offer and to expand into other regions.
We are currently expanding our provision on our Beeches Site in the Brislington Area of Bristol and are seeking a tutor/unqualified teacher* to join our great team. We have capacity across the week to offer provision for up to 35-40 learners, all of our learners are disaffected with education, as they have had a poor experience of mainstream education. All of our learners have additional needs, with the majority having an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP).
At MIAG we offer each individual learner a bespoke programme that will include functional skills (Literacy & Numeracy); a choice from a wide range of qualifications at Award and Certificate level from the National Open College Network (NOCN) as well as a vast array of enrichment activities. We pride ourselves on listening to our learners and they support us in shaping our offers, for example at the start of this academic year a number of our learners cited an interest in undertaking Hair & Beauty Qualifications. This led us to building a small Hair & Beauty salon which opened for learners prior to the Christmas holiday period. Similarly, we have been able to create a discrete teaching area for the delivery of Arts Qualifications. The learner voice is fundamental to us, and sets us apart from other providers.
As a tutor with MIAG you will be responsible for delivering functional skills, and other subjects depending upon experience and interest. You will support our team of SEND Teaching Assistants and SEND Support Staff in delivery of NOCN and Enrichment Activities ensuring that progress is evidenced. You will liaise on a regular basis with our SENCO/DSL and input into learners Annual Reviews.
We provide transport to and from our provisions for our learners, this is key in ensuring that our learners build relationships with staff, are prepared for the day ahead and ensures good links with home. Occasionally you may be required to support with this element of our offer.
We would welcome applications from qualified teachers/tutors but are also keen to hear from unqualified teachers/HLTAs who are wanting to progress in their careers, as we are able to offer on the job training and currently offer the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
MIAG is a family friendly employee and the Pay & Rewards package is excellent:
