Re-use Shop Operative
Kingdom Recruitment, acting as an employment agency, is currently recruiting for a waste management company, site-based in Eccles (M30 7RH).
The position is 4 on 4 off, 8 am - 6 pm, and can become full-time for the right candidate.
You will need to have your own transport as, on occasion, you might be asked to work at 2 different locations: WA14 5TB and OL9 9LZ.
Pay Rate: £11.44/h
As a shop operative, you will be in charge of the daily running of our re-use shop, based at our site in Eccles, liaising with the re-use hub manager to ensure the shop is fully stocked and that everything is properly stored or made ready for sale.
This will involve you:
1. Merchandising stock, organizing, preparing, pricing, and presenting donations for sale to increase sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
2. Managing stock and communicating to the re-use hub manager what stock the shop needs delivering.
3. Operating the cash register, counting/reconciling cash and credit card receipts, processing returns, and refunds.
4. Ensuring goods are sold at appropriate value and all rejected items are disposed of appropriately.
5. Arranging collections and deliveries in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
6. Maintaining the security of the shop premises, stock, and cash.
You will be expected to promote the values of the shop and the charitable nature of the re-use scheme in Greater Manchester while providing excellent customer experience to encourage repeat custom and the smooth and profitable running of the shop.
What are the requirements?
You will be passionate about the environment and in particular this re-use project, with prior retail experience and a real enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service.
Either you will have knowledge of recycling and upcycling, or be willing to rapidly develop it, but you should have an understanding of maintaining stock, merchandising, and the ability to handle financial aspects of retail, along with:
1. A flexible attitude to work as shift work and weekend work will be required.
2. The confidence to initially work alone in the re-use shop (until volunteers are recruited).
3. Excellent teamwork skills as you will also work closely with site staff on the HWRCs.
