MIM Mechanical Installation and Maintenance (N.I) Ltd, founded in 1994, is a mechanical engineering company located in Carrakeel Industrial Park, Co.L'Derry. The company employs a core workforce of 80 professionals, including Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Mechanical Fitters, welders, fabricators among others. MIM specialises in Machinery Movement, Heavy Lifting, Coded Welding, steel fabrication and other essential engineering disciplines, with a team known for their extensive training and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance:
* Implement and maintain quality control processes to meet EN1090 compliance requirements.
* Inspect structural steel components and welded assemblies to ensure adherence to technical specifications and design standards.
* Support the development and review of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welder Qualification Records (WQR).
* Collaborate with the workshop team to identify quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Compliance Management:
* Ensure compliance with EN1090, including preparation and maintenance of CE marking documentation.
* Assist in maintaining and improving compliance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, and 45001).
* Prepare for and support internal and external audits, addressing findings and ensuring successful certification.
* Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, certifications, and compliance activities.
Workshop Oversight:
* Conduct regular quality checks during fabrication processes to detect and prevent defects or non-conformance.
* Work closely with the workshop manager to ensure production aligns with quality and compliance goals.
* Provide support and guidance to workshop staff on quality standards and compliance procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
* Identify opportunities for improving quality processes and compliance practices within the workshop.
* Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues and recommend preventive measures.
* Develop and deliver training sessions for staff on EN1090 and ISO compliance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential Experience:
* Hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication and welding.
* Strong understanding of EN1090 standards and their application in a fabrication workshop environment.
* Experience as welding co-ordinator or willingness to obtain certain training qualifications needed
Desired Experience:
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety Management).
* Experience in preparing for and managing external audits.
Education & Skills:
* Diploma or degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (preferred).
* Certification in welding inspection, quality auditing, or compliance management (desirable).
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills for interacting with workshop teams and auditors.
