Great opportunity to join an expanding team as an experienced Underwriter. You will be based in one of our client’s offices, based in the city centre of Manchester, working within the Loans Department. The main responsibility of this role would be to assess all loan applications, consider all financial circumstances and to make effective recommendations and decisions, based on the business’ established loan policy and procedures. Further duties and responsibilities would be to make recommendations to improve loan process and identify trends; advise members on loan criteria and information/documentation they need to provide with their application; asses credit worthiness of the applicant through credit referencing and discussion with member where necessary; authorise or decline loan applications with clear reasoning and justification of the decision; to accurately record information relating to decisions; work with colleagues to develop and promote loans and other products; to ensure the loan policy and procedures are adhered to; to provide reports to the senior management team on the performance of loan products against targets; handle customer enquiries; manual and electronic filing; provide information about the services to members; general ad-hoc office duties as required. The successful candidate must have previous underwriting experience, a high level of interpersonal skills, demonstrates a sense of urgency around the delivery of customer needs and to be able to take ownership/accountability of issues. Hours of work will be 8.30am till 4pm Monday to Friday, 2 days WFH (working from home), 3 days within the Manchester city centre office.
