Job overview
The Dermatology Department at Lincoln Hospital is extremely busy seeing patients both on an outpatient and inpatient basis.
The Specialty Co-Ordinator is vital to the smooth running of the Department not only providing an efficient administrative service to the Consultants and their teams but line managing the medical secretaries and secretarial assistants in the team.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Dermatology Team at Lincoln. If you consider yourself to be motivated, hard-working and a committed individual this is the role for you.
The role is full time and will be based at Lincoln covering 37.5 hours, the working days are Monday-Friday but hours from 8am – 6pm.
This role is a deferment, candidates will start no earlier than June 2025.
Main duties of the job
You need a sound administration background and be both enthusiastic and committed to providing an excellent service to the Department.
Responsible for day to day line management of medical secretaries, secretarial assistants and elective access clerks including allocation and checking of work and training and development of staff.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Typing, Audio and Word/Text Processing skills to RSA III or equivalent experience.
* GCSE English Language Grade C or equivalent and Mathematics.
* 4 GCSE Grade C or equivalent.
* AMSPAR – Medical Terminology Certificate.
* Stage 1 – Management Development or equivalent.
* NVQ III or equivalent.
* D32/33 Assessor Award or equivalent.
Previous Experience
* Medical Secretarial experience.
* Supervisory experience.
* Knowledge of 18 week RTT pathway and Access targets.
* Knowledge of PAS.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
* Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload to achieve.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability and confidence to communicate at all levels.
* Competent Microsoft Word User.
* Validation of 18 week RTT pathway.

* Conscientious in standard of work produced.
* Ability to work under pressure and to lead a team.
* Clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
