Practice Nurse Manager
Homebased - This role will be covering the North of the country and travel will be required within the role.
Role Summary
The Practice Nurse Manager is responsible for managing a team of Practice / Screening Nurse professionals and ensuring that all clinicians in their team are able to achieve agreed targets to time, cost and quality requirements, in accordance with client and business needs. The Practice Nurse Manager ensures that performance management policy is properly executed fairly and consistently within their team and that the CPD Plan is delivered effectively and efficiently to their team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead the clinical nurse practice team within your designated area or region to ensure compliance with clinical accreditations and registrations, standards, operational processes and customer expectations.
2. Conduct audit of clinical team performance and drive quality improvement and sharing of best practice.
3. Ensure that quality is reviewed from the customer perspective.
4. Assist with the initial training and support of clinical team members and "sign off" of vaccination competencies.
5. Ensure members of staff within the team are fully up to date with competencies to carry out their role.
6. Review, analyse and continually improve on clinical and customer audit performance within your assigned team and drive quality and compliance improvement and sharing of best practice, working with your peers to ensure consistency across all teams, including the identification of repeat issues and implementation of resolutions.
7. Create and manage development Plans and CPD programme for own team, working with colleagues in a multidisciplinary way wherever possible.
8. Carry out interviews where appropriate.
9. Deliver clinical services on Clinical Days (minimum 2 days per week) as required to support operational performance.
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all line managers will carry the following responsibilities within their job role:
1. Carry out line management tasks as required, including recruitment, retention and motivation of staff. Conduct appraisals, performance management, absence management and deal with conduct, capability and grievance issues as required.
2. Provide leadership, direction and motivation to direct reports and their teams ensuring efficient and effective delivery of service operations to all designated clients.
3. Lead by example and be an inspirational role model.
Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
1. A Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
2. Excellent understanding of immunisation and vaccination requirements for Health Care Workers as defined in the Green Book.
3. Competent to deliver all vaccination requirements for NHS health care workers including Mantoux and BCG.
4. Ability to work at both a tactical and operational level.
5. A strong leader with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
6. Effective decision maker and able to work autonomously.
7. Be an advocate for change and process improvement.
8. Be an advocate for service excellence.
9. Able to demonstrate a clear attention to detail.
10. Ability to maintain and develop strong, trust-based working relationships.
