Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work closely with students who require tailored support in their learning journey. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with children with SEN/SEMH needs and will be committed to fostering a positive and productive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide individual support to students with SEMH needs, adapting teaching methods to meet their unique learning requirements. Assist in the planning and implementation of Educational Health Care plans (EHCPs) and behaviour intervention strategies. Create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages students to express their feelings and build self-confidence. Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to track student progress and share insights on behavioral and emotional development. Facilitate positive social interactions among students and help develop their emotional regulation and social skills. Maintain accurate records of student achievements and progress, and communicate effectively with staff and parents. Support the development of a safe and engaging classroom environment through the preparation of resources and materials. Qualifications: Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting. Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent) are preferred but not essential. Understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH and the ability to employ effective de-escalation techniques. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students with SEMH needs. A proactive approach to professional development and willingness to engage in relevant training opportunities.
