Position: Manufacturing Engineer

Overview
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has emerged for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our client's close-knit, team-oriented environment. The role involves design, prototyping, R&D development, and manufacturing within a high-tech facility located in the heart of the country at Lichfield.

Main Responsibilities
New Product Introduction
Lead the definition and implementation of production processes as part of the APQP process and PPAP activities.
Serial Production
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product margins and support lean manufacturing techniques such as waste elimination, one-piece flow, 5S, visual factory, SMED, Poka-Yoke, quality response, and production and PC&L support.
Key Duties
* Develop process flows and PFMEA
* Conduct production training
* Support local 8D problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone diagram)
* Define, source, and approve machines and workstations
* Define and source tooling, fixtures, and equipment
* Create visual work instructions (VWI) or SOPs
* Develop manufacturing floor layouts from goods-in to dispatch
* Develop, source, and validate packaging
* Develop tools and fixtures, including production and CMM tooling and gauges
* Optimize processes to meet customer Takt-Time
* Create and justify budgets (ROI)
* Eliminate bottlenecks and balance workloads using MTM analysis
* Develop and optimize material flow diagrams (e.g., spaghetti charts)
* Implement TPM strategies
* Conduct MSA studies on measuring equipment
* Create production files in line with PPAP and customer traceability requirements
* Develop initial/off procedures, identify SC and CC, and set up SPC monitoring systems
Skills Required
* Knowledge of AutoCAD LT (2019 onwards)
* Proficiency in SolidWorks
* IT network and hardware/software knowledge, including scanning and workstation networking
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
* Experience with MTM and work balance analysis
* Basic understanding of quality control systems
Experience and Background
* Experience in automotive or aerospace high-precision mechanical environments
* Proven track record in launching new products
* Lean manufacturing practitioner (e.g., 5S, SMED, one-piece flow)
* Quick learner capable of adapting skills to the business
Education
Qualifications at HND, degree level, or equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Working Hours and Environment
38 hours per week: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (30-minute lunch); Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel to customers and suppliers may be required.
