1066CW NDT Subject Matter Expert (SME) Hinkley Point C, Somerset Contract, long-term £445 PAYE, £610 UMBRELLA Job Description & Background: We are seeking an expert Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Subject Matter Expert to join our team at Hinkley Point C, the UKs critical nuclear power station project. The role is pivotal in ensuring technical compliance, driving innovation in NDT techniques, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality across our construction activities. Principal Responsibilities: Review and categorize radiographs, providing expert arbitration and resolution Provide technical input on construction issues, including non-conformance reports and NDT process challenges Conduct technical reviews of NDT procedures, risk assessments, and method statements Develop and execute surveillance guidelines for quality assurance Provide technical assistance to project management and contract organizations Strategically plan and coordinate radiography and NDT techniques Drive adoption of safer and innovative radiography methods Act as technical lead for documentation review and issue resolution Coordinate technical learning and experience sharing across the project and industry Required Qualifications & Experience: PCN, ISO 9712 or equivalent Level 3 in Radiographic Techniques (Essential) Significant experience of NDT in nuclear or high-hazard environments Expert knowledge of non-destructive testing techniques Good understanding of construction codes (RCC-M and ASME knowledge desirable) Additional qualifications in phased array ultrasonic techniques and surface inspection are advantageous Essential Skills & Attributes: Advanced analytical and technical problem-solving capabilities Exceptional communication skills for complex technical concepts Strong safety consciousness and commitment to nuclear safety culture Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams Proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation Excellent time management and organizational skills Capacity to drive innovation and continuous improvement Technical Competencies: Expert-level knowledge of NDT techniques and technologies Understanding of national and international HSE standards Familiarity with CDM Regulations and IRR Proven track record in achieving safety excellence on major engineering projects Personal Competencies: Demonstrates RESPECT through inclusive communication Shows INTEGRITY by remaining calm and building trust Drives INNOVATION through proactive stakeholder engagement Excels in COLLABORATION and knowledge sharing Committed to EXCELLENCE and continuous personal development Location & Details: Site-based at Hinkley Point C nuclear power station Permanent, full-time position Competitive salary with comprehensive benefits package Extensive site-specific training program provided This role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a landmark nuclear infrastructure project, working at the forefront of energy innovation and safety.
