We require an experienced Environmental Manager/Senior Environmental Consultant with practical experience to join a small, dynamic Environmental and Sustainability Team for a Global Infrastructure Business.
The position is home-based with trips to site when required. Travel and subsistence are part of the package.
You will be responsible for the Environmental Management of a major Substation upgrade programme. Reporting to the Project Director, you will take the lead in creating a culture of best practice environmental performance and standards for the duration of the programme.
Duties:
1. Act as the Environmental Lead on the project, being the main point of contact between the site and design teams.
2. Actively represent environmental issues in collaborative meetings.
3. Assist with production and review of methods statements and risk assessments.
4. Collate subcontractor information from site to assist with monthly sustainability reporting.
5. Undertake Environmental inspections and audits.
6. Provide environmental advice regarding legal compliance and construction to the survey team.
7. Monitor contractors to ensure effective delivery of obligations.
8. Coordinate and liaise with the Design Joint Venture to ensure the timely exchange of environmental assessments and specialist resources in line with the programme of works.
9. Review and input into project work package plans and task briefs as required.
10. Attend consultations with local authorities, local enquiries, and other statutory bodies where required.
11. Record and report all incidents and instigate any corrective actions.
Person Specification:
1. Previous experience as an Environmental Manager or Senior Consultant.
2. Knowledge of construction methods and the environmental impact associated with major construction projects.
3. Previous site experience is preferable.
4. Awareness of current and future environmental legislation, and a working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation is essential.
Experience:
1. Large scale linear project experience (energy, power, renewables).
2. Significant experience with either an Engineering Consultant, Principal Civil Engineering Contractor, or a specialist Environmental Consultancy.
3. Experience of environmental design and mitigation.
4. Broad experience of all elements of environmental design, site activities, and impacts on third parties.
5. Confidence and experience to challenge designs.
Preferable:
1. Qualified Environmental specialist or a related discipline; membership of a relevant professional body is advantageous.
2. A valid CSCS card to visit sites is desirable.
