Main duties of the job
* Providing a high-quality responsive telephone service and dealing with high volumes of telephone calls. This will involve making appointments for patients agreeing dates and times, entering appropriate referrals onto the radiology system, giving appropriate prep instructions as well as dealing with general enquiries or referring calls to the relevant person or department.
* To assist in the organisation and servicing of clinics within radiology.
* Advise patients as per agreed protocols.
* Send out appointment and prep sheets after making the appointment.
* Prepare referrals for verification and/or discussion by consultant radiologists/sonographers.
* Deal with DNA patients according to department protocols.
* Liaise with medical staff about inpatient appointments and ward visits.
To provide a flexible and responsive outpatient appointment service including:
* Making appointments, where appropriate, when requested electronic orders, by letter, telephone, or the patient's personal attendance.
* Providing from department protocols any relevant medical and dietary information.
* Providing reception cover as required.
