Summary Working as one of our Welcome and Service Assistants you will play a key part in delivering a warm welcome to our visitors in the Great Langdale valley and keeping operations running smoothly during our busy times. This is a dynamic role which will welcome visitors, mainly based within the car parks, you will be processing car park payments, helping visitors to get the most out of their day and engaging them with work we do as a conservation charity and the different ways they can support us. Hours: 780 hours a year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. You will be working around 15 hours per week (weekly hours may vary throughout the year to respond to the busier periods). This role will require weekend and bank holiday working with an emphasis on being available during school holidays. Duration: Permanent. What it's like to work here The Langdale valley, formed by fire and ice, is home to a wealth of history. Its iconic fells and valleys naturally shaped over thousands of years, is now a destination for thousands of visitors each year to explore. Educational pioneer George Trevelyan, and writer Beatrix potter both owned and farmed land in Langdale and both donated estates to the National Trust. To this day we continue to work with NT tenant farmers to enhance nature and keep the outdoors accessible for our visitors. This role will mainly be based in the Langdale valley; however, you may be asked to work in other locations in the Lake District with prior arrangement. What you'll be doing Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service. You will be working in the outdoors, welcoming our visitors; providing help and guidance on where to park, processing car parking payments and providing information on National Trust membership, offering options and advice on potential walking trails and providing any other information our visitors may need to have a fantastic day out. You will also help to look after the car parks and surrounding areas through regular facilities tasks, signage checks and litter picking. Our presentation standards are important to us, and you will work alongside the rest of the team to ensure we keep our places safe, functioning well and looking great. As well as ensuring great day-to-day visits for our visitors, you will also play your part in delivering our programming offer.
