Job title: Project Controls Director
Location: London - Across 2 sites (North/South London must be able to commute between both sites)
Contract length: 6 month initial contract - Potential to extend

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for a Project Controls Director on behalf of a global company in the Rail and Mobility Sector. This role is to work on a high-profile Rail upgrade project.
Role Summary:
The successful Project Controls Director will oversee 2 London sites. You will bring key stakeholders together across the project, ensuring all aspects are hitting key milestones and that all engineers are meeting targets. You will be responsible for stringent management of both sites, addressing any risk factors and providing ways to streamline the workforce to enhance productivity. Previous experience within a high-net Rail/Rolling stock project and in a similar role is essential.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Controls Strategy & Implementation: Develop and implement robust project controls frameworks tailored to rail projects, ensuring alignment with corporate and contractual requirements.
2. Schedule & Program Management: Lead the development of integrated master schedules for Rolling Stock, ensuring alignment with track, infrastructure, and signaling project timelines.
3. Cost Control & Financial Oversight: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking for the Rolling Stock workstreams.
4. Risk & Change Management: Develop risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to rolling stock procurement, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning.
5. Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination: Collaborate with rolling stock suppliers, engineering teams, infrastructure partners, and government agencies to ensure smooth project execution.
6. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Develop and implement KPI dashboards to track project performance in terms of cost, schedule, and risk.
7. Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all Rolling Stock project controls adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
8. Rolling Stock-Specific Expertise Required: Understanding of contract structures, technical specifications, and manufacturing processes related to rolling stock.
Previous Skills and Experience:
1. Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading project controls teams and overseeing large-scale projects.
2. Proficiency in project management software and tools and a solid understanding of project controls processes.
3. Extensive Rolling stock experience and working on large scale high net worth projects in Rail and Infrastructure.
4. Experience of overseeing multiple sites would be beneficial.
5. Key Stakeholder management experience.
6. Excellent system and IT skills/ Data Analysis/ Reporting/ Presenting.
7. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Project Management, Construction Management, or Business Administration.
8. PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification is often preferred.
9. Experience working on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
10. Understanding of rail operations, signaling, track systems, and rolling stock procurement.
11. Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, or other project scheduling tools.
12. Ability to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, cost forecasts, and risk registers.
13. Expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM) for performance tracking.
