GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a secondary school’s resource base in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The school’s resource base is designed to support students with Autism and Learning Difficulties, helping them to thrive academically and personally. As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be instrumental in supporting students to overcome challenges and succeed in their educational journey. Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide tailored assistance to students, both individually and in small groups. Your role will involve fostering inclusion, building strong relationships, and helping students develop both social and academic skills. SEN TA Responsibilities: Support students with Autism and Learning Difficulties in a specialist resource base. Assist with implementing individual learning plans and support strategies. Encourage the development of students' social, emotional, and communication skills. Work alongside teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Help students engage with the curriculum through tailored support. Monitor and report on student progress to teaching staff and parents. Provide personal care and assistance where required, maintaining dignity and respect. Promote a safe and supportive atmosphere that encourages learning and development. Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant: Previous experience working with students with SEN, Autism, or Learning Difficulties, or relevant care experience or as a SEN Teaching Assistant. A relevant qualification, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, or equivalent. A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field. A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A proactive and positive attitude towards making a difference. An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or the willingness to apply for one. Why Join GSL?
