United Drains is a well-established plumbing and drainage company specialising in the commercial sector. Operating across England and Wales, we deliver high-quality services to a wide range of commercial clients. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our expanding team.
The Role:
We are seeking a driven, ambitious and highly capable individual with a strong background in drainage operations. You will be responsible for managing a large team of engineers and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our operational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage a team of over 40 drainage engineers
2. Conduct staff reviews and disciplinaries
3. Interview and onboard new drainage engineers
4. Provide technical support and assist with complex jobs (including occasional out-of-hours support)
5. Carry out site audits and attend site as required
6. Support the operations team with technical queries
7. Oversee quoted works: ensuring correct scheduling, engineer assignment and part ordering
8. Attend large site visits and assist with quotations
9. Meet with clients when necessary
10. Prepare RAMS and manage H&S documentation
11. Conduct H&S inductions, meetings and toolbox talks
12. Induct new staff and subcontractors
Key Requirements:
1. Minimum 10 years' experience in the drainage industry
2. Proven management experience within the sector
3. Strong problem-solving abilities
4. Competency in high pressure water jetting
5. Solid understanding of Health & Safety procedures
6. Good level of IT literacy (especially Microsoft Excel)
7. Excellent communication and leadership skills
8. Ability to work independently and under pressure
9. High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
10. Full UK Driving Licence
This role is approximately 80% office-based and 20% field-based.

Preferred Experience:
1. Plumbing: 5 years (preferred)
2. Drainage: 10 years (required)
