Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity to join our supportive and friendly team as a Newly Qualified Social Worker, working within a great environment where you'll be supported through clear career progression plans, health and wellbeing programmes, and flexible working.

Your role will require you to have effective communication and the ability to craft assessments and reviews that are timely, proportionate, and person-centred. Guided by your supervisor, you'll play a key role in enabling our customers to live independently.
Your expertise should cover current legislation and guidance related to vulnerable adults, along with a solid understanding of Health & Social Care legislation in a broader policy context. Social Work England registration is a requirement for this role.

Job responsibilities
1. Fully engage in the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme for newly qualified social workers by planning and reviewing progress and development at regular intervals, fully cooperating with the ASYE assessor and supervisor.
2. Undertake person-centred social work/community care assessments with customers and plan for the provision of support and/or services to assist them in meeting their outcomes and living as independently as possible.
3. Develop creative approaches to meeting needs and maintain up-to-date knowledge of local provisions.
4. Accurately and timely record all information/assessment activity onto the Social Care records database.
5. Apply assessment and risk management for individuals, acting in accordance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
6. Gather sufficient information about customers to accurately assess their needs against eligibility criteria.
7. Participate in Specialist Response rota enabling access to services to work effectively.
8. Ensure that Council corporate and service policies and procedures are followed at all times.
9. Carry out Support Plan Reviews in a timely and person-centred way.
10. Contribute proactively to the effective working of the team with a positive attitude.
11. Be an ambassador for the Council and the department at all times.
12. Attend Civil Emergencies when a Rest Centre is set up.
Specific requirements for this post
To successfully complete the ASYE programme. Ability to travel on a daily basis and to undertake visits to customers in their own homes or in other settings (e.g. hospital).
Person Specification
Experience
* Qualified Social Worker, taking up post within one year of achieving a recognised social work qualification.
* Social Work England registered.
* Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and guidance regarding vulnerable adults.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with people at various levels.
* Ability to utilise a range of Microsoft and Electronic Social Care record software.
* Must be able to write clear, complex, and accurate reports.
* Evidence of appropriate work experience and reflective learning from placement experience.
* Ability to identify problems and demonstrate a creative approach to such problems.
* Fully fluent in English.
Qualifications
* Some relevant professional experience post-qualification in a similar work environment.
* Excellent ICT skills including use of Microsoft applications and specialist systems.
* Proven assessment and investigation skills appropriate to the scope of the role.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary and partnership working.
