This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, committed and creative leader, with an interest in health innovation, to support the delivery of large-scale health impact working with a dynamic inhouse team and outstanding partner organisations. It also provides an opportunity for professional development, with broadening of the leadership portfolio into working with health and care systems, industry and HEIs and in supporting the discovery, development and deployment of innovation. We collaborate with colleagues across London and link to the National Health Innovation Network and other National and international academic health science centres. We are based in one of the most active innovation regions in Europe and in April will move to the Hale House, a flagship innovation building that is part of a developing health technology district in Marylebone. The Chief Medical Officer will play a critical role in supporting next steps in our development and delivery of impact. They will provide clinical and healthcare provider expertise to strategically steer the development of our organisation and partnership as it enters a critical new phase. They will also provide clinical support and challenge to the development of our innovation projects and will have the opportunity to co-create solutions. A key part of our offer to our partners is our horizon-scanning function in which we seek to predict, assess and assimilate health and care trends and the challenges and opportunities of health innovation. This then informs our work. The CMO will lead this function and, supported by our team, lead delivery of our events, think-tank and consensus conference programme. This will include working closely with colleagues in UCL to jointly deliver the Ignite programme. This is therefore a high-profile role in which public and wider partner engagement in health innovation will be key. Responsibilities include: A full member of our executive leadership team, providing strategic steer to the development of our organisation and partnership. Provide clinical expertise, with a strong innovation and healthcare provider perspective, to the development of innovation projects. Lead UCLPartners ambitious events, engagement, think tank and consensus conference function. This will include providing leadership to the co-delivery of the Ignite programme with senior colleagues in UCL. Build and maintain a network of clinical leaders (medical and nursing) across our partnership organisations and nationally, ensuring this group are engaged and steer our work. Oversee our approach to clinical governance of health innovation products and their implementation, ensuring our work is clinically safe, effective and will result in positive clinical outcomes. Represent the company and partnership as appropriate at external events. Support the development of our international network of health innovation systems, such that UCLPartners development and projects are enriched by international perspectives and strong collaboration. Line manage a small CMO team with defined responsibilities for portfolio described above. Terms and Conditions Job details The Chief Medical Officer will report to the Chief Executive Officer. The role is 0.2 - 0.4 WTE and is a 1-year fixed term position, with possibility of extension. Remuneration is highly competitive. We are particularly, but not exclusively, interested in applications from individuals employed in partner organisations who wish to undertake a part-time, funded secondment. This can be in addition to or replace current responsibilities as agreed with the primary employer. We offer flexible working arrangements.
