To support Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's brand new Acute Services and Ward blocks, the Trust is seeking a skilled and dynamicSenior Estates Managerto lead our engineering and building services. This role is essential in ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors by overseeing the management of all estate operations. You will work closely with the Head of Operational Estates and Senior Estates Management, providing vital input into capital schemes, leading the estates team, managing contractors, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead within the engineering and building services team to ensure effective maintenance and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Support the development of capital schemes that minimize revenue costs while delivering high-quality facilities.
• Manage and develop estate operations in line with the Trust's corporate objectives.
• Oversee a team of Estates Officers, Admin, Clerical staff, and contractors.
• Act as the Authorised Person for building and engineering services as required.
• Plan, organise, and manage maintenance services, including emergency on-call duties.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including local authorities, Primary Care Trusts, and external contractors.
What We’re Looking For:
• Extensive experience in estate engineering management, preferably in a healthcare environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in budget management, cost estimation, and the procurement of physical assets.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations, HTMs, HBNs, and Health and Safety legislation.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with various internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure, analyse complex situations, and make informed decisions.
• AutoCAD skills for designing small capital schemes and improvements are desirable.
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Both hospital sites offer key services such as A&E, Obstetrics-led Maternity and Paediatrics. It is an exciting time at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital as maternity, neonatal, critical care and theatre services will be moving to the brand new Acute Services Block (ASB) and New Ward Block in Autumn 2025.
