OVER WYRE MEDICAL CENTRE JOB DESCRIPTION DISPENSER / TECHNICIAN TO JOIN OUR DISPENSING TEAM JOB TITLE: DISPENSER / TECHNICIAN REPORTS TO: DISPENSARY MANAGER HOURS: 37 HOURS PER WEEK / FULL TIME MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE The following are the core responsibilities of the Dispenser. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: Dispensing acute and repeat prescriptions following the practice SOPs. Updating patients medication records on doctors instructions. Dealing with patients at the front desk, handing out medication and dealing with any queries as they arise. Checking colleagues dispensing (dependant on experience/qualifications) Dispensing weekly medication into Nomad packaging and checking Nomad packs (dependant on experience) Ensuring the dispensary area remains clean and tidy. Recording transfer of Controlled medication stock via online CD register. Meet the requirements of the Dispensary Services Quality Scheme. Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensary manager to facilitate reordering Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines Preparing prescriptions for submission to the NHSBA for payment each month Using Docman to check patients discharge summaries and clinic letters when required Communicate effectively with the Dispensary Team, wider practice team and patients Confidentiality: In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
