Head of Business Excellence (COO office) York, Sheffield, Bristol, Norwich or London Salary of circa £125,000 Here at Aviva, we are excited to announce a newly created role within our Chief Operating Officer's office for our IWR (Insurance, Wealth & Retirement) division - Head of Business Excellence - which calls for someone with outstanding operational planning and development skills, and who has worked previously within COO office for a company similar to Aviva. If you feel you can demonstrate a consistent track record in business performance analysis, board paper preparation, scorecard development & delivery and successful strategy execution we'd love to hear from you A bit about the job: You'll be kept busy planning and developing our departmental operational plans, milestones and performance outcomes, becoming the trusted advisor to our COO for our IWR division (Insurance Wealth & Retirement). Tasks will include: Enabling the successful execution of our COO strategy through the right alignment and interaction with all COO directorates and our transformation team Monitoring performance against plans, report on performance, identify issues, and drive solutions to the COO and appropriate committees. Preparing and communicating board papers, ready for, and during, our monthly board meetings Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, maintain regulatory awareness, lead initial triage and shaping of our departmental initiatives and oversee all COO inputs into committees Skills and Experience An excellent understanding of how a Financial or Professional Services business is run, thanks to working within these industries extensively (Insurance experience is highly desirable) You will have undertaken a Business or Operational Excellence and/or Chief of Staff role previously, so will be able to showcase strong commercial awareness as well excellent consulting skills. Ability to be confident with senior stakeholders and hold your own when it comes to communicating and implementing principles and practices is key. Prior experience of developing and executing a COO strategy, within medium to large company, is a must also Being able to effectively analyse business performance, looking at operational costs and suggestions for efficiencies - i.e. producing operational scorecards, as well board papers, is also a must for the role.
