Key Responsibilities
As a Family Law Solicitor, you will manage a diverse caseload of family law matters, supporting clients through personal and often emotionally challenging situations. Your key duties will include:
* Advising clients on family law issues such as divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, child arrangements, and financial settlements.
* Representing clients in proceedings relating to child custody, contact, and residence, as well as advising on parental responsibility and guardianship matters.
* Drafting and negotiating divorce petitions, separation agreements, consent orders, and financial consent orders.
* Handling high-net-worth divorces and advising on complex financial matters, including asset division and spousal maintenance.
* Providing expert advice on prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, and other family-related legal contracts.
* Assisting clients in cases involving domestic violence, including obtaining non-molestation orders and occupation orders.
* Building strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, offering ongoing support, and ensuring excellent client care.
* Liaising with other professionals such as mediators, financial advisors, and counselors to provide holistic support to clients.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of client instructions and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Skills and Experience Required
* Qualified solicitor with experience in family law, including divorce, childrens law, and financial settlements.
* Strong knowledge of relevant family law legislation, case law, and court procedures.
* Excellent client care skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and empathetically.
* Proven experience managing a varied caseload of family law matters, with the ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged situations.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage client expectations and meet deadlines.
* Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Experience using case management systems is beneficial.
