What you will do in your working day
Your main responsibility will be to set up, operate and maintain machines to produce high quality parts for the motorsport, motorcycle and mountainbiking sector. Parts will be machined from various metals using milling & turning machines and also computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
Your roles and responsibilities will include the following:
* Use metals such as stainless steel and aluminium to produce high quality components.
* Set up, operate, adjust or edit conventional and CNC machining equipment settings and programmes.
* Produce components using engineering technical drawings and documentation.
* Continually improve manufacturing processes & productivity.
* Setting 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines.
* Problem Solving – first line support for machine operators e.g. tooling or surface finish – to assess and resolve issues and/or engage support and coordinate personal from other departments.
* Ensure timely and accurate communications across departments & shifts.
* Develop a collaborative approach with a desire to share ideas across functions and departments.
The training you will be getting
* Training will be delivered by a combination of all round training in the machine shop and will also involve attending Tameside College for one day a week.
* On succesful completion of your apprenticeship you will achieve the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship standard - Toolmaker and Tool and Die Maintenance Technician pathway.
* Qualifications include;
o Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
o Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
o Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
