Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

We wish to recruit an experienced, creative and enthusiastic Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Older Adult Pathway in Northumberland. This post will largely be based at Ashmore House in Ashington, covering South Central Northumberland, but with flexibility to pick up cases as required across other areas within Northumberland.
The person appointed will be working across the Community Treatment Team and the Northumberland Memory Service. As part of the Community Treatment Team, the person appointed will be providing psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment for older adult clients and families experiencing a variety of complex mental health difficulties. In addition, they will provide supervision and scaffolding to members of the Community Treatment Team.
Main Duties of the Job
A substantive part of this post will be as part of the Northumberland Memory Service, providing detailed and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and reports as part of the diagnostic pathway. The person appointed will also provide neuropsychological assessments of cognitive functioning as part of the Community Treatment Team to inform formulations and care plans. Experience and confidence in conducting and interpreting neuropsychological assessments is an essential competence for the role.
The post provides substantial scope and opportunities for developing special interests in particular psychological approaches, teaching/training, clinical supervision, research, as well as involvement in service development. The Psychology Network is friendly and supportive and is embedded within a thriving network of clinicians providing services to Older Adults in Northumberland. There is also a very active local FPOP branch. Additionally, we have close links with the Newcastle upon Tyne and Teesside Doctorate training courses and regularly have Trainees on placement as well as contributing to the course teaching.

Person Specification
Education
* Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society.
Qualification
* HCPC registered
Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the client group.
* Experience of administering, scoring, and interpreting complex neuropsychological assessments.
* Working with complex mental health problems in older people as part of a community treatment team.
