Contract Type: Permanent Closing Date: 19th December 2024 Interview Date(s): TBC An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste Management Delivery Service, as such Leicestershire County Council is looking to recruit to Plant Operatives to support in the operation of the Council’s Waste Transfer Stations (WTS). Loughborough position is working full time (5 days per week which may include working weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays every week. Bank Holidays that fall within working patterns could be mandatory but paid as double time). Kibworth position working will be 4 on/2 off and involve working at Market Harborough RHWS. We have one position available at Kibworth (and Market Harborough) Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) including Kibworth Waste Transfer Station (WTS). We have one position available at Loughborough RHWS and Waste Transfer Station (WTS). Successful candidates will be asked their preference on provisional award; but all candidates must be prepared to be based at any of the three sites on a day-to-day basis, including Whetstone WTS. About the Role You will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy plant and equipment that will include loading shovels, telehandlers, and forklift trucks for the efficient and effective transfer of waste from busy WTS, in strict accordance with safe systems of work. The role will also involve maximising the recovery of recyclables within waste and safely controlling deliveries from private traders and district councils. The role is based in a busy transfer station and involves working outdoors. It is expected that the successful candidates will have previous experience of operating loading shovels and telehandlers at waste or construction sites. However, training may be provided to suitable candidates that have no previous experience of operating this type of plant. All positions will at times require the candidate to work on the attached Recycling and Household Waste Sites when not operating plant machinery.
