An exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medicine team based at Weston General Hospital as a specialist grade doctor on a 12-month fixed-term contract initially. The successful applicant will work within all the Acute medicine services providing leadership by leading ward & board rounds, performing & teaching practical procedures, teaching junior medical staff and participating in Multidisciplinary meetings.
This post will also participate in the GIM physician on-call rota in a 1:11 basis.
Main duties of the job

Core: The post holder will be responsible for the assessment & continuity of patient care for medical patients within the Emergency department, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit, and inpatient wards which include Medical Admissions Unit (Sandford), Waterside, and medical outliers as per the department rota between each area.
Clinical Management: The post holder is expected to take a full role in the delivery of the Trust-wide agenda for Governance. The Trust believes in an open learning environment with a clear risk management strategy that allows innovation and improvement in care whilst placing patient safety at the centre of our values. The post holder will take an active part in the department/specialty strategy.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience in Acute & General Medicine, with the ability to manage a wide range of Medical emergencies.
* Experience of teaching both post and undergraduate students and professions allied to medicine.
* At least twelve years post-graduate clinical experience and at least six years in the required Specialty.
* Demonstrate current ALS certification or equivalent.
* Knowledge of research techniques in clinical medicine.
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
* Flexibility to fit with service requirements & ability to work in a team.
* Meet professional health requirements in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
* Knowledge of the use of patient databases and IT websites.
* Experience of educating support staff.
Qualifications and Training
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
* Teaching or training qualifications.
* Experience in research and evidence of peer-reviewed publications.
Clinical Governance and Audit
* Understanding of Clinical Governance and the individual responsibilities it implies.
* Experience in quality improvement work.
* Proven participation in Clinical Governance and Audit.
