Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Administrative Directorand in collaboration with the Chief of Laboratory Medicine andSection Medical Director the Lab Manager leads manages monitorsimplements and supervises testing quality and compliance standardsin the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Clientand affiliated community health centers. This role manages asubspecialty section for the Laboratory (Blood Bank and TransfusionServices Central Receiving Area Chemistry Hematology Phlebotomy)ensuring standards that meet or exceed requirements for College ofAmerican Pathologist (CAP) and The Joint Commission (TJC)accreditation and other external agencies.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership:
* Manages and leads a subspecialty section of theLaboratory.
* Assumes full responsibility forall laboratory staff in their section and their actions.
* Champions a laboratory environment that promotes qualityand compliance for all laboratoryrelated tests andservices.
* Provides 24/7 callcoverage.
* Contributes to and supportsdepartment Strategic Planning.
* Ensuresmaintenance of equipment evaluates new equipment and promotes newprograms and problemsolving.
Fiscal Responsibility:
* Takes full fiscal responsibility for thesection including preparing and managing budgets analyzing billingcodes and supporting revenue integrity.
* Monitors and controls overtime to achieve client s goalof < 1.8% OT.
* Updates all equipmentmaintenance and service agreements in collaboration with the SupplyChain department.
QualityCompliance and Safety:
* Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies (CLIA TJCOSHA DPH HCFA FDA AABB NCCLS).
* Participates inhospitalwide Quality Assurance Programs and prepares reports forQuality Improvement Program (QuIP) reviews.
* Maintains updated Policy and Procedure Manuals andensures compliance with safety procedures.
Technical Expertise:
* Provides guidance and resolution for technicalproblems.
* Plans evaluates and implements newmethodologies and technologies.
* Ensures propermaintenance and functionality of equipment andinstrumentation.
HumanResources:
* Oversees theinterview process and candidate selection.
* Manages orientation and competency testing for alltesting personnel.
* Embraces the clientPerformance Management Process and supports employeeengagement.
* Coordinates crosstraining programsand ensures optimal staff utilization.
Communication:
* Communicates with staff through regularmeetings.
* Works with the AdministrativeDirector Medical Chief Medical Directors and other managers toachieve common goals.
* Prepares and implementscustomer service programs and values customer feedback.
Other Duties:
* Performs other duties as needed.

JobRequirements:
Education:
* Requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited universityor college in Medical Technology Clinical Laboratory Science or anapplied science.
PreferredCertifications:
* Certification by the American Society of ClinicalPathologists (ASCP) or equivalent agency.
Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years of fulltime experience in the specificarea of charge.
* 3 years of supervisoryexperience in a clinical laboratory.
* Familiarity with accrediting agencies requirementsparticularly The Joint Commission and College of AmericanPathologists.
