Job Description
* Reporting to the General Manager, you will be a prominent member of the leadership team, responsible for all primary production operations across 2 sawmills and log yards at our client's site in Lockerbie.
* Your priorities will focus on operational output & efficiency, quality and safety across the entire processing of timber from the log yard to the initial stages of sawmilling.
* Ensuring safety regulations are adhered to throughout all processes.
* Maintaining high levels of quality control.
* Line management and leadership for managers and supervisors of both mills and their respective teams, ensuring all parts of the employee lifecycle are supported.
* Driving continuous improvement to improve operational effectiveness, efficiency and increase output using Lean principles.
* Coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth operation.
* Reporting to senior management on production status and issues.
* Staying updated with the latest industry trends and best practices.
The Successful Applicant
To be successful in the role you will be:
* Highly experienced production manager operating as part of a senior leadership team.
* While a degree in a relevant discipline such as Business, Engineering or Science would be advantageous, it is not essential; however, you must have substantial experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Experienced in continuous improvement in a production environment, with a successful track record in implementing successful change initiatives.
* A previous manager and leader that excels in motivating and mentoring others to reach their potential.
* A strong communicator who can positively influence from the factory floor to Directors.
* Possessing a deep understanding and practice of Health & Safety legislation.
