CONTROLS ENGINEER

Hiring for Multiple Contract Positions, for ongoing consecutive contract engagements

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Design, configuration, and programming of automation and controls systems using PLC, HMI, Robotic, and SCADA systems.
* Complete controls designs and electrical schematics; specifying hardware and components.
* Develop PLC code and HMI programs using Allen Bradley Studio5000, FactoryTalk View, Siemens TIA Portal, and applicable programming software.
* Develop and implement the communication and I/O interfacing between devices and systems.
* Download offline programs into the machinery and troubleshoot I/O, communications, and machine function.
* Develop a safety PLC program in accordance with OSHA, RIA, and CSA standards for the automated system to ensure proper function. Document results on safety checklists.
* Provide detailed documentation throughout each project.
* Collaborate with customers, project managers, engineers, electricians, and other subject matter experts to achieve project objectives.
* Commission automation systems at the machine builder and final customer facilities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
* Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or Robotics & Automation is required.
* Applicants must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the Controls and Automation Industry.
* Bodyshop experience a must; Chrysler experience an asset.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
* Programming all controls related devices, including but not restricted to: PLC & HMIs (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron).
* Vision systems (Cognex, Matrox, Keyence, Omron).
* Setting up Powerflex Drives.
* Configuration of I/O modules.
* Barcode scanners and printers (Zebra, Keyence, Cognex, Honeywell).
* Smart sensors (IO link devices, IFM, Balluff, etc.).
* Welding equipment (Telsonic, Hermann).
* Knowledge of custom machine building and processes including welding, assembly, vision, laser, etc.
* Understanding of Ontario Electrical Code and Electrical Circuits.
* Knowledge of OSHA, RIA, CSA Safety Standards.

* Ability to meet deadlines and execute multiple project tasks.
* Ability to travel for on-site commissioning (USA, Canada, Mexico).
MUST HAVE:
* CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY.
* Valid Driver’s License & access to reliable transportation.
* Valid Canadian passport and must be willing to relocate internationally (for contracts in the US and Mexico).
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Additional pay:
* Overtime pay.
