Our Client is an established, award-winning structural and civil engineering consultancy. Their projects include small domestic alterations, extensions, new builds, Super homes, low-rise building conversions, swimming pools, temporary works design, drainage and civils, in residential, commercial, and institutional sectors, and remedial works design for insurance claims. They are seeking a disciplined and logical Structural Engineer with 2 years post-grad experience designing low-rise UK building structures in masonry, reinforced concrete, timber, and steel, to join our team.
Job Role
As part of the integrated structural engineering design team, you will attend initial site visits and project design team meetings, and prepare technical documents, including design calculations, drawings, schedules, reports, specifications etc, and coordinate design with the wider design team. This role is particularly suited to capable individuals who wish to drive their careers forward to professional qualification.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the analysis and design of low-rise structures in structural steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry, reporting to Senior Engineer or Project Director
• Analysis experience using 3D modelling software such as Tekla Structural Designer
• Production of detailed hand calculations
• Ability to produce and amend drawings using Autodesk software including AutoCAD and Revit would be an advantage
• Experience visiting sites to inspect works without supervision
• Contribute to internal project design meetings
• Attend external design meetings and site progress meetings/inspections with clients, other design team members and contractor
• Liaising with other construction professionals in the development of designs
• Directing technicians in the production of drawings using Autodesk software including AutoCAD and Revit
• Good understanding of how building structures are formed
• Assist with the administration of projects

• Ability to communicate through verbal, written and sketched communication
• Interest in structures

• Must hold an MEng in Structural / Civil Engineering (ideally 2:1 or above)

• Must have a minimum of 5 years relevant post-graduate experience and be working towards Chartered status with IStructE or ICE.

We will provide the successful candidate with both formal and on-the-job training with support in attaining professional qualifications with the Engineering Council and a relevant professional institution. The wide variety of projects we undertake is particularly suited to engineers who want to get a good grounding in all aspects of building structures design.
