What is the opportunity?
The Finance Department provides support to the business and fulfills internal and external financial reporting functions. It is responsible for providing monthly and quarterly reports on business performance to management and all areas of the organisation, including head office in Tokyo. It performs a vital role in the annual business planning process, coordinates the external audit, produces published accounts, and is responsible for tax policy and compliance. The Finance Department's Regulatory Reporting Team is responsible for monitoring and reporting regulatory capital and liquidity. It also provides reports to the Bank of England and the Japanese Financial Services Agency ('JFSA').
The Product Control area is responsible for the main internal reporting and control functions relating to the trading elements of the Company. In this capacity it works closely with the business and Risk Management department both in London and Tokyo.
What will you be doing?
1. Assist in the review and implementation of New Products and treatment within both Capital and Liquidity Reporting. Work and support the BAU teams in a consistent manner to understand the new product, implications arising and treatment.
2. Assist in the review, explain and tracking of the Regulatory Landscape.
3. Assist in the review and improvement of the MHI Regulatory control environment. Track issues and progress to conclusion.
4. Support BAU reporting teams as and when required to ensure team deliverables are achieved.
5. Assist in the preparation of team risk and control metrics e.g. RCSA, tracking and drive to close issues arising.
6. Review as necessary relevant legislation, policy and guidance statements e.g. CRR and PRA publications.
7. Assist in preparing the test plan for system migration from the tactical solution to the strategic solution.
8. Assist in liaising with our technology partner (internal and external) to understand the mapping of financial products in the chosen strategic platform. Help drive implementation and extension thereof to other risk factors and reporting requirements.
9. Work to understand, absorb and standardise/rationalise processes relating to team and departmental objectives. E.g. integration of MHBK responsibilities into UK Finance in a controlled manner.
10. Assist to develop test scenarios/cases by modelling financial products into the chosen strategic platform.
11. Assist to prepare the expected results.
12. Assist in executing the test plan and document results based on observable system results to expected outcomes.
13. Assist to investigate unexpected outcomes by liaising with our vendor consultants and, where necessary, reference Legislative Text and conclude accuracy of the system output vis-à-vis expected output.
14. Documentation of processes and productions to ensure adequate project and testing governance according to best practices.
15. Procedure regular updates and testing reports of pass rates/traffic lights to the Line Manager.
As required, assist with the delivery of relevant projects and ad hoc requirements. As required, liaise with ISD to prioritise development work.
What do you need to succeed?
1. Previous work experience where candidate had to meet deadlines and take responsibility for their output.
2. Finance/Regulatory Reporting Investment banking experience - CoRep/Bank of England Statistical/PRA.
3. Proven experience of delivery to tight deadlines.
4. Experience of working with and supporting stakeholders in terms of explaining and development of requirements and control frameworks.
5. Previous work experience within an Investment bank.
6. Candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to develop new skills and build knowledge of financial products including the economics of these products.
7. Demonstrable understanding and ability to interrogate supporting legislation and regulatory text e.g. CRR.
8. Demonstrable understanding of investment banking products and their risk profiles.
9. Candidate should be analytical and be able to analyse large amounts of data.
10. Advanced skills with Excel and Power Point.
11. Knowledge and experience of the liquidity rules and good understanding of current regulatory changes.
12. UAT testing experience for small scale projects.
13. Graduate in numerate or finance discipline or equivalent experience.
