Job Summary:
We’ve grown to be a $7B FTSE100 company over the last 30 years and we want to get to $10B and beyond in the next 3-5 years! We are modernising our entire estate to make this happen in a large $250m transformation programme. Despite the industry as a whole and Beazley in particular modernising and moving to digital outcomes, we remain a document-driven industry.
We seek a technical lead to join our shared engineering services team, who will provide the technical leadership to successfully implement a strategic document generation and management tool, and lead technical migration to it from various legacy platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career as a technical lead in this vital area of our business. At Beazley, we do not believe your career is fixed – this is a great opportunity to demonstrate your technical skills and knowledge, show how they can be applied to real business outcomes, with career growth opportunities into Underwriting, Claims or Finance technology (as an example).
Your constant thirst to learn, grow, and lead Beazley in your area of expertise will make you successful. Critically, you’ll be able to balance technical constraints (including security, performance, discoverability) with business outcomes. We will not be document-centric forever – even if our industry remains so, we recognise the need to go even further towards being data-first than we already are. Your role will be crucial to this goal, providing us a well-structured, discoverable, and secure document platform baseline.
Above all, you’ll need to be inspired and inspire others; highlighting how technology can improve our outcomes when we collaborate effectively, modernise our processes, and ultimately grow our business.
Responsibilities:
* Understanding documentation business goals and objectives across all our value streams.
* Defining the technical, process, and data outcomes needed to deliver those objectives.
* Taking our current committed tooling and establishing a technical platform to meet those needs, including migration to it.
* Extrapolating this further to a target state accounting for our strategic goals and likely change in this area.
* Establishing strong relationships with internal document users, understanding their needs and taking them towards our target state.
* Engaging with decision makers to influence their choices.
* Advocating across our change landscape for doing the right thing, doing it well, but doing it to meet business goals regarding business documentation.
* Being entirely agnostic with regard to individual technologies, and the need to evolve and change.
* Working with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure solutions align with enterprise strategy.
Skills and Credentials:
Experience required in design and implementation of appropriate technologies in the following areas:
* Experience in a technical lead, technical architect, or technical delivery role.
* Experience in the insurance industry preferable but not essential.
* Experience with document generation and management solutions.
* Experience with target and transition state definition.
* Experience using modelling and repository tools beneficial.
* Ability to synthesise complex problems into technical designs that can be understood by other stakeholders.
* Understanding of cloud computing, business drivers, and emerging computing trends.
* Experience in understanding security and compliance needs and ensuring designs meet our standards in those vital areas, especially as documents are shared by multiple actors.
* Integration of document solutions with our wider business stack.
* Experience collaborating with stakeholders across all elements of the business.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the challenges facing the business and will have a strong awareness of technology, media, tools, trends, and adoption rates.
* Familiarity with information management practices, including document classification and record retention.
* Ability to engage both technical and business audiences.
* Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
* Ability to analyse and resolve complex business and technical issues.
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong modelling capability with the ability to clearly represent complex ideas graphically.
* Ability to balance the long-term and short-term implications of individual decisions.
* Ability to translate business needs into architectural requirements.
* Ability to estimate the financial impact of design decisions.
* Ability to translate complex domain-specific concepts into knowledge that can be understood and consumed across domains.
Don’t meet all the requirements? At Beazley, we're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every requirement and qualification in the JD, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right candidate for this, or one of our other roles.
